Fleeti retrieves actual fuel consumption from the vehicle's CAN bus, odometer and fuel card. Depending on the data available, the platform automatically applies the fuel-based method (actual consumption multiplied by an ADEME Base Carbone emission factor, the most accurate) or falls back on the distance-based method (kilometres driven multiplied by a vehicle factor). For electric vehicles, consumption is reported in kWh with charging time and battery status. Every data point is time-stamped and kept for ten years, GDPR-compliant and hosted in the European Union.

According to ADEME, road transport accounts for nearly 30% of France's national CO2 emissions. On combustion business fleets, driving behaviour and trip efficiency account for up to 20% of total fuel consumption, according to the Observatoire du Véhicule d'Entreprise.

The CSRD requires reporting all three emission scopes across the value chain. For a fleet, this means aggregating owned vehicles, charging electricity and leased or personal vehicles. Three sources, three logics, one report.

Fleeti covers Scope 1 through on-board telematics and fuel cards. Scope 2 by reading electric vehicle consumption (kWh used, emission factor of the national mix or supplier contract). Scope 3 through connections with leasing and rental companies and car sharing, imported mileage expense claims, and mobile reporting for employees' personal vehicles.

In mid-sized service companies, Scope 3 often outweighs Scope 1. Most solutions on the market stop at Scope 1. Fleeti aggregates all three scopes to deliver a complete ESRS E1 report with no re-entry or double counting.

Frequently asked questions about fleet CSRD reporting

How do you calculate a vehicle fleet's CO2 emissions?
Two methods coexist, both recognised by the GHG Protocol. The fuel-based method multiplies actual fuel consumption by an emission factor from the ADEME Base Carbone, and is the most accurate. The distance-based method multiplies kilometres driven by an average vehicle factor, useful when fuel data is missing. Fleeti collects data continuously via on-board telematics and automatically applies the most accurate method available for each vehicle in your fleet.
Which companies are subject to the CSRD in 2026 for their fleet?
After the Omnibus reform of 30 April 2025, the timeline was eased. Large listed public-interest entities with more than 500 employees have been reporting since 2025 for the 2024 financial year. Large unlisted companies with more than 1,000 employees and over €50M in turnover or €25M on the balance sheet will report in 2028 for the 2027 financial year. Listed SMEs will report in 2029 for 2028. Non-EU companies with more than €150M of turnover in the EU will report in 2029 for 2028.
How do you include Scope 3 (leased vehicles, business travel) in CSRD reporting?
A fleet's Scope 3 covers vehicles that are not owned but used for business: leased and rented vehicles, car sharing, and business travel in employees' personal vehicles. It is the hardest scope to measure because data is spread across the leasing company, fuel card, expense claims and employee reporting. Fleeti brings these sources together in a single view: API connection to the leasing company when available, fuel card imports and mobile entry for personal vehicle trips. The resulting ESRS E1 report consolidates all three scopes with no re-entry.
What is the difference between Bilan Carbone, BEGES and CSRD reporting?
Bilan Carbone is a French carbon accounting method, a registered trademark of the Association pour la transition Bas Carbone, aligned with the GHG Protocol. The BEGES (greenhouse gas emissions report) is a French legal obligation under the Grenelle II law, to be published every 4 years on the ADEME platform by companies with more than 500 employees. CSRD reporting is the broader EU obligation that includes GHG emissions in an annual sustainability report covering environmental, social and governance matters. Since the French law of 30 April 2025, companies subject to the CSRD that publish their carbon footprint within that framework no longer need a separate BEGES.
Can fleet carbon data be exported to third-party carbon accounting software?
Yes. Fleeti exports emissions by vehicle, site and period in Excel, CSV and PDF formats to feed your carbon accounting software (Sami, Greenly, Plan A, Toovalu, Carbo) and your consolidated non-financial reporting. Exports also follow the formats expected for the CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) questionnaire and the EFRAG VSME standard for voluntary approaches. ADEME Base Carbone emission factors, breakdown by scope, documented methodology.
Which ESRS E1 indicators directly concern the vehicle fleet?
The ESRS E1 standard (climate change) requires several disclosures that directly concern the vehicle fleet: E1-1 on the climate transition plan, E1-4 on emission reduction targets, E1-5 on energy consumption and mix, E1-6 on gross Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions in tonnes of CO2-eq, and E1-7 on any offsetting projects. Fleeti automatically feeds disclosures E1-5 and E1-6 for mobility and provides the figures needed to document E1-1 and E1-4 year after year.
How do you automate ADEME Base Carbone emission factor calculations?
ADEME Base Carbone emission factors are updated every year and vary by fuel (petrol, diesel, B7, B100, CNG, electricity), powertrain, vehicle category and national energy mix. Fleeti keeps this database up to date internally and applies the most accurate factor to each trip based on the known vehicle. The report states which Base Carbone version was used for the reporting period, providing the methodological traceability the third-party auditor requires.
