Frequently asked questions about fleet management in France

Is there fleet management software developed in France?
Yes. Fleeti is a French simplified joint-stock company (SAS), registered with the Bayonne trade and companies register and headquartered in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques. The platform is developed in France, contracts are governed by French law and invoicing is in euros. The company also operates in around fifteen African countries, where the platform was first deployed at scale before opening to the French market.
What difference does a French provider make for fleet management?
Three things. The French regulatory modules (ANTAI designation, benefits in kind, LOM law, CSRD reporting) are built for this market rather than translated onto a platform designed elsewhere. Your sales contact and support work the same hours as you, in French. And a feature request from a French customer reaches a product team partly based in France, without waiting for roadmap decisions made for another market.
How much does fleet management software cost in France?
Pricing has three components. A monthly subscription per connected vehicle or asset, which varies with the modules activated. Hardware (telematics device or camera), depending on the vehicles. And nothing at all for recent vehicles whose manufacturer already shares their data, since integration requires no installation. The cost is best compared with what it saves: on a fleet of twenty vehicles, a single increased fine for failing to designate a driver, or a benefit in kind calculated at the flat rate by default, often exceeds the annual subscription. Quotes are based on your actual fleet mix.
Who will handle my account day to day, and how do I reach support?
A team based in France. Sales follow-up, account management, administration and technical support are handled from the French head office, in French, during business hours. Part of the development team also works in France, with the rest of the product team spread across the other countries where Fleeti operates. Support responds by email, phone and WhatsApp. WhatsApp is the quickest channel for a short question or a photo taken in the field. Your sales contact stays the same after signing.
Where is my fleet data hosted?
In Europe, under the GDPR. Location data, usage data and documents uploaded to vehicle records stay on infrastructure located within the EU.
Who installs devices and cameras in France?
Both options are available. On most vehicles, the device needs no technician and your teams plug it in themselves. For specific installations (construction machinery, refrigeration equipment or vehicles with hard-to-reach power), Fleeti uses a network of approved installers covering the whole of France. For fleets across several sites, rollout is planned in waves.
What are the regulatory obligations for a French company managing a fleet?
They fall into four areas. The Highway Code requires the driver to be designated within 45 days of a fine being sent, or the legal representative faces a fine. Employment and payroll law require valuing the benefit in kind of any employee who uses a vehicle privately. Tax rules apply annual company vehicle taxes and cap deductible depreciation according to emissions. Finally, the LOM law sets low-emission vehicle quotas for replacements above a certain fleet size, and companies subject to the CSRD must report on emissions.
Is tracking my employees' vehicles legal in France?
Yes, within a defined framework. The CNIL allows tracking of company vehicles for specific purposes: safety of people and property, monitoring and billing a service, route optimisation, checking that vehicle use rules are followed, and tracking working time where no other means exists. Employers must inform each employee concerned, consult the works council (CSE), record the processing in their register and limit retention to what is necessary. Tracking outside working time is not allowed. At Fleeti, position history is kept for one year, and purposes, time slots and access rights are set up at launch.
Can dashcams be installed in company vehicles?
Yes, under conditions. The system must serve a legitimate purpose, usually evidence after an accident and driver safety, and remain proportionate to it. Employees must be informed individually, the works council (CSE) consulted and the processing recorded in the register. Continuous recording, especially of the cab interior, is the most sensitive point and the first thing an inspection looks at.
Which Fleeti features are specific to the French market?
Six modules address obligations specific to France: ANTAI driver designation, benefit-in-kind calculation, claims and insurance management, electrification under the LOM law, ESG and CSRD reporting, and car sharing. Fleeti Lease, the financing department, is also reserved for companies established in France. The other modules (cost and TCO tracking, preventive maintenance, driver management, inspection, dashboards and AI analysis) work in every country covered.
